Inspired by my Pennsylvania German heritage, I keep going back to the design elements found on the house blessings and birth announcements called FRAKTURS. The most embellished and original ones were created in southeastern Pennsylvania during the late 1700's and up until the printing press "commercialized the illustrations" in the mid 1800's. Researching at the library of the American Folk Art Museum in New York City, the Winterthur Museum in DE,and the Schwenkenfelder Library and Museum, Pennsburg, PA, I have incorporated some elements of unbalance, geometry and the flowers, angels and colors of these artists into a line of patterns. 1792 Baptism Certificate - F073 24 x 36 M-$53 L-$70
